Key Areas of Focus Include Research, Strategies and Case Studies

DALLAS, 15 October 2010 - The International Association of Exhibitions and EventsTM (IAEE) Social Media Task Force has published the IAEE Social Media White Paper: How to Properly Use Social Media to Enhance and Promote Your Event. It is available to exhibitions and events industry professionals at no charge. Led by co-chair and lead writer Michelle Bruno, president, Bruno Group Signature Events and co-chair Joyce McKee, president & CEO, Joyce McKee & Company, this publication focuses on many key elements affecting exhibition organizers and exhibitors including research, marketing, strategies, case studies, legal issues and the benefits of social media.

"With the completion of this white paper, IAEE provides another industry-wide benefit, and I am very proud of the achievements of the IAEE Social Media Task Force this year." says IAEE Chairman Chris Meyer, CMP, CEM, vice president of sales for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority. IAEE will continue to provide essential tools and information for members so that there is a shared confidence among everyone promoting, planning and executing events."

Main elements of the white paper include insight into the research, benefits and strategies for social media. One excerpt states,

"Social media practices can benefit event organizers in a number of ways including brand extension, access to online member/customer networks, ability to deliver real-time customer service, opportunity to offer collaborative educational programming, advertising, promotion and public relations, potential reduction in marketing and communication costs and opportunities to implement "green" event practices."

IAEE President Steven Hacker, CAE, says, "One of IAEE's strategic initiatives for 2010 is to dive into the new arena of social media and better understand how it is impacting exhibitions and events industry professionals. There is no doubt based on the member research conducted early in the year, publication of the Best Practices in August and finally the white paper, along with countless education sessions planned for Expo! Expo! this December, we are a much more social-media savvy organization and industry."
