EIF Announces 2012 Helen Brett Scholarship Recipients
EIF
DALLAS, 3 October 2012 – The Exhibition Industry Foundation (EIF) congratulates the recipients of this year's Helen Brett™ Scholarship: Jason Logie and William H. Burse.
The Helen Brett™ Scholarship was established by Robert Kolinek, CEM, CMP, and named for his grandmother, Helen Brett, who was a pioneer in the trade show industry. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist individuals who are exploring the study of exhibition management with the end goal of advancing their career in this field.
The scholarship serves to promote the exhibitions and events industry by attracting college-level students into the field of study and encouraging their pursuit with financial support. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis based on field of study, recommendations and educational achievement. Preference is given to those expressing an interest in the exhibition management industry field and those enrolled in degree programs which are viewed as particularly relevant to this field.
William H. Burse, a student at Johnson & Wales University, says, “My interest in the exhibitions and events industry came about when I completed my first internship in high school my senior year. In the process of working along with my peers, I received the chance to set up my own event for the faculty at my high school. Being actively involved in planning every single detail for my event struck a passion in me that I did not know I had. I said to myself maybe event planning is something I could be great at, so I decided to just take that next step to pursue an educational experience in the exhibitions and events industry.”
Jason Logie attends Pennsylvania State University. He says, “I am extremely honored to once again be a recipient of the Helen Brett scholarship and would like to thank the Exhibition Industry Foundation for their continued support. While spending the past year studying abroad, I have had the opportunity to meet many amazing people from our industry. This has fueled my desire to seek out employment within the exhibitions and events industry, in an international setting. The generosity shown to me by so many has enabled me to follow my dreams and I hope to one day be able to pay it forward.”
The 2012 Helen Brett™ Scholars will be recognized during Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition to be held 4-6 December 2012 in Orlando, Fla. (Go to www.myexpoexpo.com for more information.)
