Top Public Event Program
(for existing events and new launches)
Each year thousands of business-to-consumer events take place in the United States and each year the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) selects an expert panel of exhibition organizers, exhibitors, suppliers, and marketers who carefully evaluate hundreds of public shows across all industries, hobbies, interests and crafts. From those that apply for recognition only the best are selected as among the Top Public Events. A broad criteria of best practices are evaluated such as customer service initiatives, employee training and motivation, innovations in marketing and exhibitor support to name a few.
Events that are selected are entitled to use distinctive Top Event advertising and promotional collateral that clearly identifies them as among the best events in the nation for the next year. All copyrighted IAEE Top Public Events collateral is licensed for the winner’s use (based upon the terms of use) for one year from the date of the annual award.
Why You Should Apply:
- IAEE will use all of its publications and electronic media to feature the annual list of Top Public Events.
- Winners will receive a comprehensive package of licensed collateral that may be used for one year at no cost.
- Each event will be recognized at key IAEE events such as Expo! Expo! and the Midyear Meeting.
- IAEE will issue ongoing media information to major news organizations about the award recipients.
- All award winners will be invited to attend the annual awards luncheon at Expo! Expo! to be recognized and to receive their awards.
- Winning recognition as one of IAEE’s Top Public Events brings you substantial competitive advantage.

Top Public Events 2011
Each year thousands of business-to-consumer events take place around the world, and in 2011, IAEE launched a program to identify and recognize the “TOP” public events. Two overall categories of events were identified; established events and new launches (those events in their first or second year). The criteria measured included event demographics, best practices, customer service initiatives, employee training and motivation, innovations in marketing and exhibitor and attendee support. Please join IAEE in recognizing these public events as IAEE 2011 TOP PUBLIC EVENTS!
54TH LOUISVILLE BOAT, RV & SPORTSHOW
26-30 January 2011, Louisville, Kentucky

The 54th Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow is recognized as an IAEE 2011 Top Public Event for longevity and stability as well as providing excellent customer service which directly translates to their exhibitor and attendee satisfaction. The Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow is a family tradition in the Kentucky area offering family-oriented programs and activities for the young and older, novice and expert, and promotes family time in the outdoors.
MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW & STRICTLY SAIL

The Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail is recognized as an IAEE 2011 Top Public Event for longevity and stability, excellent customer service and innovative methods to build exhibitor and attendee participation during a downturned economy. Knowing how much the credit-related industries have suffered during the economic recession, the judges appreciated that this Show focused on keeping their exhibitor and attendee base strong through creative marketing, increased social media use, renegotiating leases if needed and developing relationships with new vendors.
MINNEAPOLIS BOAT SHOW

The Minneapolis Boat Show is recognized as an IAEE 2011 Top Public Event for exceptional customer service and innovative initiatives to overcome the downturn experienced at the 2010 boat show due to the economic recession. Producers of this Show showed great initiative in identifying why some exhibitors/attendees stopped coming to the Show and finding out what would bring them back and using that information to enhance or develop events/activities and programming to address those top identified areas.
SOUTHERN CHRISTMAS SHOW

The Southern Christmas Show is recognized as an IAEE 2011 Top Public Event for exceptional customer and community service as evidenced by the 81 percent return rate for attendees and an 84 percent retention rate for the exhibitor community. The judges were equally impressed by the charity function of the Southern Christmas Show. The opening night of show is a charity event with all ticket sales benefiting the Charlotte Junior Women’s Club charities and the Empty Stocking Fund, which funds holiday gifts to underprivileged children through the Salvation Army.

The Super Pet Expo is recognized as an IAEE 2011 Top Public Event earning high marks from the judges in the media relations, use of social media, customer service and exhibitor and attendee satisfaction categories. Of particular note was the Super Pet Expo’s innovative attendance promotion and modified attendee marketing campaign which has doubled attendance in the past four years.

2011 BOSTON FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW

The Boston Flower and Garden Show is recognized as an IAEE 2011Top Public Event—New Launch for its vision in launching this show after Boston experienced its first year (2009) without a major flower show in 137 years. Paragon Group recognized an opportunity to bring back a “tradition” in the Boston area, using some of the same elements and participants (from a previous flower show that was cancelled due to economic reasons) but also reformatting and revitalizing the event adding new features, marketing finesse, and moving it to a new vibrant and upscale venue.
EARTH DAY DALLAS 2011

Earth Day Dallas 2011 is recognized as an IAEE 2011 Top Public Event – New Launch for sound planning, creative marketing and for recycling as a best practice initiative. Earth Day Dallas 2011 was empathetic to the exhibitor and attendee communities during this time of economic challenge and used several strategic approaches to attract exhibitors and attendees to the event. The judges agree that Earth Day Dallas 2011 is a unique product, with excellent customer service and a stewardship component that positively distinguishes the event from others.
