Web Site Guidelines for Chapters
IAEE is committed to developing the Chapter Area of the IAEE web site. IAEE will develop a "template," which will consist of a navigation bar and a header across each page. This navigation bar/header is to ensure a sense of uniformity throughout the chapter area. Chapters may fill in the page(s) with whatever information they wish.
Q: How often is the chapter area of the web site updated?
A: Any updated information needs to be sent to IAEE immediately, and will be updated within 1 to 3 business days (depending on length and number of changes.)
Q: What type of file formats are you able to accept?
A: The following file formats can be accepted:
- HTML files
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files
- Microsoft Powerpoint
- Any Microsoft database
- Ascii.txt files, comma-delimited
HTML files are the preferred files, as they can be placed onto the web site with little or no formatting. If chapters send their files in any other format, then a copy of the brochure, newsletter, etc. must be received so that the appearance of the brochure will be the same. IAEE's webmaster will format the files and include colors, if any.
Q: Can photographs/graphics be included on the web site?
A: Yes, they can. If photographs are included in your publication, then the photograph will need to be sent to IAEE for scanning. Graphics need to be sent in one of the following formats:
- .gif
- .jpeg
- .tif
- .bmp
Q: What can chapters put on the web site?
A: Chapters may include a list of chapter board members, meeting notices and on-line registration, newsletters, board meeting minutes, annual reports.
Q: Can our chapter have a database of its members on the web site?
A: IAEE maintains the most current list of member updates. IAEE has a database of members in the Members-Only section of the web site, which is always up-to-date. This Member Directory may be sorted by chapter.
Q: What if we want to maintain our chapter web site ourselves?
A: Sites which are hosted by IAEE headquarters can only be maintained by headquarters staff. If the chapter would like to maintain their own web site, they should contact a web solutions provider to develop and host a site for the chapter to maintain on its own.
Q: What does my chapter need to do to get online?
A: Meet with your board and develop a schedule of who will take on the task of forwarding the necessary information to IAEE (or who will maintain your web site). Decide what you want to include on the web site. Tell IAEE which areas you want to include on the navigation bar. Some examples might be:
- Leadership
- Events and Meetings
- Newsletters
- Sponsorship Opportunities
Q: How long will it take to "build" our chapter's area, once we have all the information to IAEE?
A: Development time can take from 5 days to 3 weeks, depending on the amount of information you supply to IAEE.
