To accommodate the continuing demand for exhibit space we have opened an additional section of six 10’ x 10’s and three have already been sold. If demand continues we will continue to open additional segments. As of now we are about $40,000 ahead of our space sales revenue forecast. Attendee registrations are nearly caught up to last year even though the number of exhibit personnel is lagging. We continue to enjoy very brisk enrollment of all segments of exhibition and event...

We learned this week that the membership department met our dues revenue forecast for the truncated year ending 30 September despite being down $70,000 in mid-September. Remember, we transition this year to a new 1 October fiscal year and ended the last year after nine months in order to make the change. We also met and exceeded our exhibit space sales revenue budget for this year's show this week and have only eight remaining spaces to sell. By Steven Hacker, CAE, IAEE President

Flex Space Rental Rates: an Idea worth pursuing?
October 7, 2010

At last week’s International Convention Center Conference conducted each year by the International Association of Venue Managers (formerly IAAM), an interesting idea was floated: Why not have facilities charge show organizers for exhibition space based upon actual space sales in lieu of a flat rate. This approach would encourage more new launches by establishing a minimum space charge but providing additional revenue to the facility only if the show organizer exceeds the...

By all accounts the sold-out launch this week was highly acclaimed. We are receiving lots of positive feedback from attendees. This opens the door for us to tweak and expand the program to at least two sites in 2011 making participation more convenient for more members. By Steven Hacker, CAE, IAEE President

Well, almost. After a couple of quiet sales weeks it seems that exhibitors have all awoken this week. Eight new exhibits bringing us to 95% of our space forecast with only 1900 square feet left to meet budget. Cash committed is 96% of budget. Of course, Julie Anderson did attend the Sales Academy in Baltimore the first two days of the week so maybe we’re enjoying the first results of her newly sharpened sales techniques.
