As Congress was working feverishly to adjourn for the holidays, Senators Schumer (D-NY) and Gilliland (D-NY) of New York attempted to raid the Travel Promotion Act’s funding to pay for their 9/11 Victims Relief Act, a measure that provides medical care for first responders to 9/11. While most agree that it is right to provide funding for 9/11 victims relief, it is not right to divert essential funds from already authorized and totally unrelated initiatives like TPA to do so....

If you have spent any time around exhibitions and events it’s pretty easy to tell if an event feels right. From all accounts and measured any way the New Orleans experience was a very good one. The boost in enthusiasm and optimism among members over last year was palpable; the trade show floor was buzzing from start to finish; many education programs were standing room only or worse --- completely sold out.
