IAEM Releases First TrendWatch Study
Market research analysis provides industry insight
DALLAS -- (24 May 2004) -- Now that the International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM) and Jacobs Jenner & Kent, have finished conducting the first IAEM TrendWatch Study, can industry professionals breathe a sigh of relief about the future of the economy? Maybe...
Earlier this year, IAEM partnered with Jacobs Jenner & Kent, a highly respected market research firm with extensive experience in the exhibition and events industry, to launch TrendWatch, an ongoing, market
research study focused on identifying how news, changes, trends, attitudes, and emerging developments will affect the exhibition industry. The results of the first TrendWatch study can be found by

IAEM President, Steven Hacker, CAE, said, "The results of the first study show that our members are mainly optimistic about exhibitor spending and the economy, but are still cautious. We hope that the information contained within the analysis is relevant and useful information for our members and helps in their overall planning process."
Wayne Jacobs, president of Jacobs Jenner & Kent, said, "The findings are very interesting. The responses show that some concerns still remain, but there is ultimate optimism. Overall, the outlook is positive."
In an ongoing effort to provide IAEM members with the highest quality of news, information, and trends, this research will be made available to IAEM members every month at no cost. It is based on the feedback of an international panel of existing members, representing a cross section of IAEM senior decision-makers, who will respond monthly to posed issues about changes in the economy, behavioral patterns of exhibitors, new marketing and advertising ideas -- almost anything that can influence planning exhibitions and events.
All of the data that is collected will be catalogued and will ultimately serve as baseline data allowing IAEM to periodically revisit key trends and issues to provide reporting and analysis over time. Some topics that will be discussed include spending trends; globalization issues including barriers to participation in events like VISA entry issues and security issues; advocacy; co-location with other events; and operations issues. Additionally, IAEM has contributed the findings to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) so that IAEM's own research activities can materially supplement the work conducted on behalf of this industry by CEIR.
