IAEE Senior Executives Roundtable Highly Praised by Industry Leaders
DALLAS, 16 August 2007 - More than 60
top-level executives gathered at the International Association of
Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Senior Executives Roundtable, hosted by
the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center on 12 July 2007 in
Schaumburg, Illinois. For the association organizers (37 percent),
independent organizers (30 percent) and suppliers (33 percent) who
attended, the 2007 Roundtable proved to be highly beneficial in both
education and networking opportunities.
When commenting on what he liked best, Ken Caskey, president of Crown Events & Exhibitions said, The program was a
second-to-none format to interact with peers, share strategies, hear a
variety of trouble shooting methods, vent common pains and celebrate
accomplishments. Having such a diversified group of professionals from
different areas of the industry discussing the same situations from each
perspective is invaluable. EXCELLENT PROGRAM!!!"
"The size was small enough to encourage
interaction and had a good cross section of organizers, vendors and
suppliers," noted Dave Williams, director of sales for the World Wide
Pet Industry Association.
The full-day event examined key issues to
better understand valuable customers and enhance relationships with
buyers and exhibitors. The Roundtable provided attendees with group
discussions, case studies and one-on-one sharing of real-world
challenges and practical solutions that addressed:
-
The value of market leaders over the long
term
-
How to identify customers real event
objectives
-
The interface of customers brand strategies
with the event
-
Re-positioning events to conform to
customers' changing objectives
-
Detecting important shifts in business
climates
Brian Perkins, chairman of IAEE's Senior
Level Sub-Committee, opened the program by welcoming Jim Austin,
director of Decision Strategies International (DSI), and facilitator of
this year's Roundtable. Discussions hit the ground running with the
topic, Dissecting the Exhibitor, led by Chuck Schwartz, CEM,
chairman of ConvExx and Brian Tully, senior vice president of the Food
Marketing Institute. Tamara Christian, CEO of National Trade
Productions, Inc., held a lively session on Exhibitor Retention.
This was followed by Austin's presentation of Bringing It Together
during the One Martini Lunch break.
Afternoon discussions included Jason McGraw,
senior vice president of Expositions with InfoComm International, who
proceeded to engage executives by Dissecting the Buyer. Margaret
Pederson, president, Exhibitions for Penton Media, addressed Buyer
Retention. Austin closed the program by reviewing Findings &
Conclusions and opening the floor for final comments that drew a
free-flow of sharing from attendees.
