On-Location Course Information

What to Expect with an On-Location CEM Course

CEM on-location courses are an ideal way to enhance the learning experience.  On-location courses are activity-based learning environments where students can engage and learn from their peers as well as the instructor. Students interact with one another through activities in order to acquire a greater understanding of the course module.

Students are expected to read the course module prior to the start of class therefore all course modules are available for immediate download in the Student Resource Center in Blackboard.* CEM candidates are sent login information for Blackboard upon enrollment in the CEM Learning Program.

*Hard copies of the modules are no longer produced and all course modules are only available in electronic format.

On-location courses begin at 8:30am and end at 3:30pm for those not staying to take the optional exam.* Students who plan to take the exam following the course must bring a laptop or Wi-Fi enabled device with a battery life of at least one hour. Those that choose not to take the exam immediately after class will have 90 days from the course date in which to take it. Information on how to request to take an exam may be found in the Exam Procedures section.

*Select locations may choose to take one hour for lunch therefore the class day will end at 3:00pm.

CEM On-Location Course Policies

  • Students are expected to read the module prior to the start of class therefore all course modules are available for immediate download in the Student Resource in Blackboard.
  • Any student who misses more than 90 minutes of class will need to submit a written request to IAEE to receive credit for the course.
  • CEM instructors for on-location courses plan a comprehensive CEM learning experience. Students are reminded to bring their electronic course module with them to class to ensure an enjoyable and successful CEM learning experience. Hard copies of course modules are no longer produced.
  • Because each student has a wealth of experiences, expertise and knowledge, the course instructors may not cover every page or concept in the course module or PowerPoint in detail. Instead, the CEM instructor may engage the students in a variety of collaborative learning experiences to reinforce their self-study of the module. These collaborative learning experiences may include small group discussions, class discussions, interactive lectures and more.
