Volunteers will not cook the meals but may be asked to complete the following tasks. \n\nServing Meals into trays\nSealing meal trays\nPacking meal trays into boxes\nPreparing meal boxes on an assembly line\nCleaning up and prepping for future volunteers\n\n“Second Harvest Food Bank relied on 28\,289 volunteers last year whose hours totaled 95\,133. It’s pretty incredible to see so many caring individuals pass through our warehouse throughout the year. Our various volunteer opportunities offer fun and unique ways for individuals and groups to contribute their time\, talents and resources to help our neighbors facing hunger.  Volunteers will be asked to assist with donation sorting (sorting incoming donations for quality of products.” \nBe prepared to meet new people and build relationships within the IAEE Southeastern Chapter\, while donating your time to assist families in need throughout the area! \nTo learn more about Second Harvest Food Bank and its mission\, please go here. \nRequirements: \n\nNo signs of illness.\nVolunteers will be expected to wear the necessary food safety equipment (hair nets\, beard guards\, chef coats).\nClosed-toe AND closed-heel shoes are REQUIRED to help out in our facility.\nPlease wear comfortable and appropriate length clothing that is not revealing. Volunteers will help unload and sort food donations that will aid in the mission to fight against food insecurity across metro Atlanta. \nThis a warehouse setting\, and volunteers will be moving and walking on concrete.  Volunteers will be asked to assist with packing food boxes\, sorting assorted food items\, and constructing empty boxes for future builds.  It will be warm since there is no air conditioning\, so dress comfortably.   No open toes or heels! \nBe prepared to meet new people and build relationships within the IAEE Southeastern Chapter\, while donating your time to assist families in need throughout the area! \nTo learn more about Urban Recipe and its mission\, please go here. \nRSVP:  \nTask: Warehouse Support\, including box building\, light cleaning\, food packaging and warehouse upkeep in support of Urban Recipe’s Mission to promote food security and dignity through intentionally designed community-driven food cooperatives prioritizing equitable food access\, relationship building\, and active participation. \nParking \n\nYou are encouraged to park in the gated lot outside of the warehouse.\n\nWhat to Bring\, Tips and Hints for a Great Day \n\nWear comfortable clothes (jeans\, t-shirt) and sneakers. You will be moving and lifting donations on a concrete floor so you will want comfy\, rubber-soled shoes.\nPlease wear layers as the warehouse fluctuates with the weather. This is a warehouse facility\, exposed to outside elements at times\, and the indoor temperature may fluctuate throughout the shift. You will be moving around a lot so you will warm up quickly.\nPlease try to arrive on time as we will do a brief group volunteer orientation at the start of the shift and it helps to have all the volunteers together at one time to explain our process.\n\nBe ready to have fun as we help others in the community!
