Allcal offers a community-driven mobile calendar app and mobile responsive website for events, including festivals, fan-based events, and b2b conferences. The app from the North Richland Hills, Texas-based company features event branding; participant directories; and images, videos, custom links, and social media feeds added to session descriptions. It provides filters to find programming more quickly; event analytics; dedicated in-app chat; and real-time schedule updates. A Lottery Ticket feature allows attendees to engage in the event more deeply and gives sponsors an opportunity for more visibility and return on investment proof.
At large fandom conventions like Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con (LACC), long lines are a part of the experience for fans. Attendees can expect to wait anywhere from 1-3 hours for a seat at in-demand sessions. So, to add some excitement, organizers deployed the Lottery Ticket feature inside the official LA Comic Con app from Allcal to reward a handful of attendees with front-of-line passes to eight of the most popular celebrity panels. Conference-goers entered the contest from within the app. Winners were randomly selected the night before the session and sent a push notification and email with a custom ticket number to show at the door.
The Lottery Ticket feature can also be sponsored. At Project Anime 2017, sponsor Tap-To-Speak used a contest as an incentive for visitors to attend their panel later that day. A push notification via the app alerted attendees to enter to contest. The sponsor launched a live lottery with one click in the Allcal dashboard at the opening of the session and the winner received a pop-up notification within the app. The contest generated excitement and engagement for attendees. Tap-To-Speak received data on the number of impressions generated by the giveaway, number of people engaged in the contest, and the contact information for all the entrants.
