Pedometer Contest Energizes Participants And Drives Brand Exposure

Pacifica, California-based full-service experiential event agency 3D Media facilitates in-event promotions, such as the “Walk This Way” pedometer contest. For this specific activation, 3D provides branded pedometers, a microsite for contest promotion, mobile website, sales survey collection, brand ambassador, leaderboard, sponsor advertising, push messaging service, and pedometer score reporting. Exhibitors use the contest to stimulate booth traffic and energize attendees. Organizers can implement the contest to drive foot traffic to specific areas of the event.

The pedometer contest offers many opportunities for exhibitor visibility. Walkers go to a specific location within the event (an exhibit booth or sponsor lounge) to register on the branded website and view branded contest signage. The contest sponsor can ask participants to complete a brief survey as they register. Attendees are reminded via text message (which can also be branded) to submit their daily branded pedometer readings (distance walked) using their mobile phones. The readings are ranked on a branded leaderboard.

Contest software can track several metrics, including the number of registered participants, branded mobile messages sent, pre-event website views, and mobile website page views.
