CadmiumCD, the developers of a suite of event management software tools, collaborated with the Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) to build planner-centric features into its existing eventScribe mobile app. The result, eventScribe Boost, enabled WVC event planners to manage speakers, exhibitors, staff, volunteers, and vendors at the 2017 annual conference via a mobile device. The new app—which could be used as a standalone product or layered on the eventScribe attendee app—addressed some problems WVC had earmarked:
- Transition functionality from old, expensive technology (like walkie-talkies and event binders) into the mobile app
- Manage data from one platform integrated with all content-delivery systems (apps, websites, signage)
- Give attendees and speakers the best experience possible (easy-to-use, seamless, responsive)
eventScribe Boost allowed WVC planners to eliminate the majority of their walkie-talkies and store all vendor, speaker, and attendee contact information in the app. They communicated with attendees through push notifications, viewed room set-ups (tear sheets), and accessed real-time app stats on their mobile phones. Speaker features included a streamlined speaker ready room log-in experience and access to a personalized schedule based on their assigned sessions. When a speaker uploaded a new version of his or her presentation in the speaker ready room, those changes were reflected immediately on the WVC website, mobile app, digital signage, and AV systems. Volunteers used the app to take session notes and monitor attendance.
