How has IAEE shaped your career?

Getting involved with IAEE has really allowed me to meet and learn from some of the best and brightest folks the industry has to offer. The education IAEE offers is great, but it is more than that – it’s the one off conversations where you can really pick up ideas on how to do things better for your own job (which always helps your career).

What advice would you give to a new member?

Make sure you put yourself out there and meet new people and network. This is a really friendly industry full of people who want to help others, so take advantage of that!

Fun fact about you – What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I am a music fiend – any and all kinds (except techno), and I have played bass guitar since I was 15.

How do you use CEIR research, and what reports have you downloaded?

Pre-COVID, the CEIR reports were always a great way to see how our shows were performing vs. our sector, as well as the industry as a whole. I think as we start to come out of COVID, the Event Performance Analyzer will be a great tool for everyone.

Without using a specific company name, what new technology on the market can you just not live without? Why?

There have been so many new technologies that have come out during the past year, but I think the obvious answer is any tool that allows us to see and interact with other people, even while being locked in your house. It has become vital for my work, for my son’s school, for our family to be able to see each other…

If you want to focus on something more work related, it’s all of the new technologies that allow us to segment and target our marketing to different customer bases. Utilizing tools that allow our customers to decide how they want to interact with us is more crucial than ever. The automation is fantastic, and we have seen great results in our marketing.
