How did you start your career in this industry?
I started out in the registration department. I had a long history of customer service and so it made sense to be at the front line of the event interfacing with the attendees. The more meetings I experienced, the more I liked and enjoyed the full process and continued to ask my team to take on new and different tasks to learn more.

What advice would you give to a new member?

Interact. I tend to be shy in large settings with new people, but it truly is the people you meet in this industry that will help you through

Fun fact about you – What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I have a degree in theater and truly believe that my training for theater is what makes me a good planner. It taught me how to communicate all kinds of people and bring people together to execute an event. When I am on site, I like to compare an event to a show. Everyone has to roll up their sleeves and help make it happen, as long as it looks smooth to the audience/attendees, then we have done our job!

What community service projects do you like to be involved in? Why?

I like to have a direct impact on people when possible. I have a special soft spot for charities around kids. I and my daughter went through some medical issues at a young age and kids in hospitals get great care but they also need to play. I love organizations that help to bring support, relief and fun to those families faced with short and long term illnesses.

What do you like most about Expo! Expo!?

This year I was unable to attend in person, but I really liked being able to participate some virtually and I liked the app as well.

Without using a specific company name, what new technology on the market can you just not live without? Why?

I love the snack/experience packages that companies have created during the pandemic to allow virtual attendees to connect. Whether it is a choose your own snack, a wine tasting or a virtual cooking demo these experiences allow people to come together and enjoy. Plus, it makes them feel special to get to participate in these events.
