Hannah Thorsen is the Event Programming Manager for Dynamic Communities. She started her work experience in the data management and remote sensing field, but switched her career path in her early twenties to grow her experience in exhibitions and events. For the past four years she has worked on all kinds of events – private events, conferences, weddings and large trade shows. Her current job duties are focused on programming management, where she is responsible for the educational program of a 5000+ attendee event. In the future, she hopes to grow her experience and connect and educate more people via events.
Hannah recently completed the CEM Learning Program and shared with IAEE how she has benefitted from her IAEE Certification Journey.

To keep your memory fresh and stay involved in the industry.
What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?
I wanted to expand my knowledge of exhibitions and events with more theory, not only practical experience.
What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?
The CEM course is a great way to learn about industry standards and the courses will create a base for your continuing work.
How did you start your career in this industry?
I switched careers in my early twenties and have since fallen into the wide field of events. It was an unforeseen but positive change in my life and I have not looked back since.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I was born and raised in Germany and have only lived in the United States for seven years. My heart is in Wisconsin!
