Here, Tina shares how earning the CEM designation is helping her achieve her goals.
How has the CEM designation helped your career?
Obtaining my CEM gave me credibility and practical tools I use every day in my work.
Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?
Our industry evolves quickly, and keeping the CEM means I’m evolving with it.
What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?
I wanted to deepen my knowledge and be recognized as a professional in the exhibitions industry.
What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?
Go for it! Focus on understanding the concepts, not just memorizing, so you can apply them in your work.
How did you start your career in this industry?
I started out as a contractor doing part-time assistance in accounting with IPMI. I took on other departments within the organization and found my “niche” in the expo world.
How have you made a difference with your show or with working with a client by applying the knowledge you gained by obtaining your CEM designation?
It’s helped me take a more strategic approach, whether that’s improving operations or enhancing exhibitor and attendee satisfaction.
What was it that you did or implemented right after obtaining your CEM?
I celebrated! I have come a long way to where I am today and this designation is something I am proud to place after my name.
What did you like most about the CEM Learning Program?
That I could do this at my own pace. Working, and home life are busy as it is, this allowed me to fit in time for me.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I secretly judge signage, lanyards, and badge designs at every event I attend.
