How has the CEM designation helped in your career?
Having taken the CEM courses, from Security, Risk and Crisis Management to Finance and Budgeting, Floor Plan Management and Event Sales (plus others) have taught me new ways to professionalize our show company.
Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?
Our exhibitors, vendors, contractors, and venues contracted will see the designation and know they are working with a show professional.
What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?
There is always room for improvement – and becoming CEM certified will help me better myself by teaching event standards and advise, and it will also help my company.
What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?
Invest time in yourself and you will be rewarded both personally and professionally.
How did you start your career in this industry?
Seven years ago, I was hired to do my dream job – create and manage events. I am proud to say I am still as happy every day and to see the company and our team grow makes me even happier.
How have you made a difference with your show or with working with a client by applying the knowledge you gained by obtaining your CEM designation?
Regarding event sales and marketing, I learned which tactics work more than others, and regarding insurance liability I have shared with our team ways we should be covered and insured further. For floor plan creation, I learned proper numbering techniques and things to avoid when making it.
What was it that you did or implemented right after obtaining your CEM?
I have consistently been implementing things I have learned from all my CEM courses along the way.
What did you like most about the CEM Learning Program?
The ease of Blackboard and how it fit flexible into my schedule. After work / on weekends I was able to do my homework, quizzes and tests.
Fun fact about you – What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I would love to see the WHOLE world in my lifetime 🙂
