Transportation enables our world to interact face-to-face, thus powering every event throughout our country. We’re able to get from place to place, city to city, using a variety of means, the most popular being roads and airports.
However, there are many improvements and investments needed for the U.S. to continue accommodating travelers and doing business. According to the World Economic Forum, the U.S. ranks ninth in the world in infrastructure quality, and it’s one of our top 10 most problematic factors for doing business. The American Society of Civil Engineers also estimated that America needs to provide approximately $4.5 trillion in the next six years for infrastructure upgrades to water systems, energy systems, public transit, roads, bridges and more to keep from falling behind. Included in that is a $42 billion investment need for airports to help alleviate congestion and peak volumes.
Without proper travel infrastructure, it is extremely challenging to accommodate trade shows in the U.S. that welcome thousands of out-of-state and international travelers. At Exhibitions Day 2019, advocates will share this need with Congressional members and encourage support of bills that make mobility more efficient, safe and cost-effective heading into the 2020 election.
