How has the CEM designation helped in your career?
To me, the CEM designation demonstrates to peers, industry leaders, and potential clients that I am committed to my profession and dedicated to continually expanding my expertise.
Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?
With the events industry constantly evolving – whether through new technologies, shifting attendee expectations, or emerging trends – it’s essential to stay ahead of the curve. My eagerness to expand my knowledge and implement best practices drives me to maintain my CEM designation. By doing so, I ensure that I’m not only staying up to date with the latest industry trends but also continuously refining my skills and strategies.
What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?
I chose to pursue the CEM designation because I hadn’t had formal training in the industry, and I wanted a structured environment to build my knowledge. What made the experience especially rewarding was the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals and peers who brought practical insight and depth to each topic.
What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?
Go for it – you never know where it could lead! The CEM program opens doors you didn’t even know were there. Whether it’s building confidence, expanding your industry knowledge, or connecting with professionals who inspire and challenge you, the experience is incredibly rewarding.
How did you start your career in this industry?
I got my start in this industry by happenstance. After being let go from a previous marketing role due to a franchise sale, I found myself at a crossroads. That’s when an unexpected opportunity in the trade show and events world landed in my lap. What I initially saw as a temporary pivot quickly grew into a passion.
I discovered a dynamic industry that challenged me creatively and strategically, and over time, I built deep experience, strong relationships, and a genuine love for the work. That journey ultimately led to the creation of my own company, Trade Show and Exhibition Solutions.
How have you made a difference with your show or with working with a client by applying the knowledge you gained by obtaining your CEM designation?
I really enjoy the open discussion forum; I start my morning everyday reading through what people posted. It gives me lots of new ideas to entertain and bring to the table.
What did you like most about the CEM Learning Program?
One of the most rewarding aspects of the CEM program for me was the opportunity to meet and connect with other industry professionals. Learning alongside peers who were just as passionate about exhibitions and events created a sense of community that I truly valued and continue to benefit from today.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I am an artist. I am really busy with my twin 8-year-old daughters at the moment (lots of soccer), so there is not much time for that right now, but I do look forward to getting back into it once a bit more free time is available.
