IAEE’s Faculty Resource Center includes many teaching tools that are available for IAEE faculty members. Included are teaching guides and tools for The Art of the Show textbook published by IAEE organized in two learning delivery formats. One delivery method which was developed, in conjunction with the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council and the IAEE Faculty Advisory Committee organizes content to include 1 comprehensive outline and 5 modules of instruction, one for each thematic area listed below which vary in length.  Minimally, the module can support 18 hours of instruction or the equivalent of 1 credit in the US, to 54 hours or 3 credits. The other delivery method is a traditional chapter by chapter approach.

Supporting materials include lesson plans, learner outcomes, activities, test/quiz questions, presentation slides, videos, research papers, faculty poster sessions and more.

U.S. Dept. of Labor Recognizes Meeting, Exhibition and Events Profession

March 6, 2015 – mark it down in your calendar.  On this day, the meeting, exhibition and events profession took a giant step forward in defining a foundation of competencies that are based on the business roles and responsibilities event professionals provide to organizations.  For the first time ever, our profession is being recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor as a standalone business sector, distinct and separate from lodging and tourism sectors. IMEX Frankfurt Faculty Engagement- Save the Date & Call for Papers

An IMEX / IAEE Partnership

For the fourth year, IMEX Frankfurt will host faculty, students and industry researchers for two days of faculty conclave and “Engagement.” Once again, the “Engagement” is being supported through a partnership with the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). A key component of the ‘engagement’ is the Presentations of Academic Papers Dealing with Best Practices in Meetings, Exhibitions, Events and Conventions.

IMEX, in partnership with IAEE, will present Academic Papers as part of its annual show, and invites academics and industry experts to submit academic papers (more rigorous than might appear in an industry journal but not necessarily as rigorous as might appear in a learned journal) focusing on a broad range of topics dealing with best practices in the meetings, exhibitions, events and conventions industry. Both empirical and conceptual works are encouraged and should represent a reasonable level of academic rigor. All submissions will go through a refereeing process to determine acceptance. Presenters will have the choice of (1) making a stand-up presentation, (2) making a poster presentation or (3) both stand up and poster presentation.


  1. For all presentations: submit a three-page abstract (double spaced and inclusive of titles, tables and references) plus cover page by April 1, 2018. Indicate author name and affiliation only on the cover page. Must be original work that has not been previously presented or published.
  2. All submissions should be .doc files.
  3. English is the official language of the conference and should be used in all submissions.
  4. Make submissions by April 1, 2018 to https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/IF18-faculty.
  5. A Paper Review Committee of editors from the Journal of Convention and Event Tourism will conduct a double-blind refereed screening of abstracts. Notices of acceptance will be sent by 15 April 2018. Once a paper is accepted, at least one author must register for and present the paper at IMEX Frankfurt 2018. Registration is free and available on the IMEX Frankfurt website.


  1. Selected authors will present their papers in sessions to (1) faculty and industry on the show floor and (2) Future Leaders Forum at IMEX Frankfurt.
  2. Posters presented at IMEX Frankfurt will be presented again electronically at the IAEE annual conference, Expo Expo, in December 2018. The authors can, but do not have to, be present. Thus, authors will get credit for two presentations from the single submission.
  3. Authors will have the opportunity to publish expanded copies of their abstract in an electronic ‘proceedings’ on the IAEE website.
  4. Selected papers will go through additional review for potential publication in the Journal of Convention & Event Tourism after the conclusion of IMEX America.
