As a company member, you may update/edit your membership roster as necessary at no additional cost.

No Transaction Fee

  • There is no membership application fee for IAEE memberships.  Most association charge a processing fee as a one-time charge.  IAEE does not believe in charging your company more than the allotted membership dues rate.

  • Membership provides discounts on other services included IAEE Career Center where you may search for resumes and post open job opportunities.

Industry Membership

Industry Membership Definition

An organization that is engaged in the exhibitions and events industry as an organizer/planner or supplier of products, services, and or solutions (consultative or other). Dues for industry members are based on gross annual exhibition and events revenues derived from the industry. While the primary member representative of the company can allow for any number of members on the company roster, this classification receives one vote per member organization. Listed below are the categories of membership.

Industry Membership has two-member categories:

  • Member Organizer/Planner
  • Member Supplier

Please note: The IAEE Membership Department verifies the information provided by an organization via the company website and has the right to change membership type or category, including denying membership based on the application submission.

Definitions and Conditions of Industry Membership

Organizer/Planner Industry Member

An organization is eligible for Organizer/Planner membership if they organize,manage, and or plan exhibitions, events, conferences, congresses, and or meetings. This includes organizations that have a team or department that spends more than 51% of its time planning or organizing exhibitions, events, conferences, congresses and/or meetings.

Other Conditions of Membership

  • All members on the company roster must be employees of the company. (1099 contracted service providers may join IAEE separately.)
  • Company must provide the name(s) of shows produced and corresponding information on the largest show produced.
  • This category is not eligible to solicit services through IAEE, therefore, will not have a listing as a supplier member.

Supplier Industry Member

An organization is eligible for Supplier membership if it is engaged in providing/selling products and/or services to customers related to exhibitions, events, conferences, congresses, and/or meetings. *This includes any independent or third-party event companies that also provide consulting services, sales support, sponsorship, digital platform, and official service contracting to their customers.

Other Conditions of Membership

  • All members on the company roster must be employees of the company. (1099 contracted service providers may join IAEE separately.)
  • This category is eligible to solicit services through IAEE.

“Annual exhibition and event revenue” is defined as income received from your exhibition(s) and events(s), or if a supplier, revenue related to the industry, for the last completed fiscal year.

Event Facility Membership

An organization, such as a convention, conference, exposition center or hotel, which provides space for conducting exhibitions and buyer-seller events in North America. Dues are based on gross square footage of exhibition, conference and meeting space. This classification receives one vote per member organization.

“Gross square footage” is defined as the total square footage available for use in meetings, buyer-seller events and exhibitions.

Any organization that may be classified under either of the categories may use either method of dues calculations.

Corporate Event or Exhibit Marketer Membership

An individual or organization that uses or creates experiential events to market programs, products and/or services to both business-to business and business-to-consumer organizations. Organizations producing their own event(s), will take precedence over event or exhibit marketer, and they would fall under the Industry Member Category. This classification receives one vote per member organization.

Global Memberships (Outside North America)

Outside North America (For Organizations)

An organization that meets the qualifications for Industry Member or Event Facility Member, except its established place of business is outside North America. Dues are based on a flat fee. This classification receives one vote per member organization.

Outside United States (For Individuals)

An individual that is engaged in the management, planning, production or promotion of exhibitions and similar events to bring buyers and sellers together and are located outside the United States. This membership is available for suppliers and organizers.

Academia Memberships

Educational Institution

An educational institution membership includes both faculty and students of the institution. All designated individuals employed as faculty in post-secondary academic programs, whose main employment, remuneration, direction and efforts must be in a recognized academic institution, and they must be considered an employee with their institution. Also included in this membership are all students engaged full-time in a program at the college or university recorded as an IAEE Educational Institution Member. This classification is non-voting.

    • One comprehensive outline and 5 modules of instruction
    • Outline supports 18 to 54 hours of instruction
    • Lesson plans, learner outcomes, activities, test/quiz, presentation slides and other resources including videos
  • Access to CEIR data and reports that supports the value of participating in face-to-face exhibitions and events
  • Connections with fellow professors throughout the U.S. and around the world
  • Opportunity to receive a desk copy of the Art of the Show textbook, sent upon request
  • Review of academic papers dealing with innovation in the meetings, exhibition, events and convention industry
  • Receive tips and trends on the challenges of exhibitions and events to share with your students

For Students:

  • IAEE connects seasoned professionals with students and young professionals in the industry though its Mentor Program
  • IAEE provides students with a quarterly young professional newsletter that provides tools to land that first job after graduation, and resources to network with industry professionals
  • IAEE connects you with fellow students throughout the U.S. and around the world
  • IAEE provides students with career resources through the use of IAEE’s Career Center and ExhibitionIndustryJobs.com

Faculty Membership

A Faculty Membership is a member who is teaching or directing a program at a college or university approved by the IAEE Board of Directors. Faculty Membership is for individuals employed as faculty in post-secondary academic programs, whose main employment, remuneration, direction and efforts must be in a recognized academic institution, and they must be considered an employee with their institution.

Student Membership

A Student Membership is for an individual who is engaged full-time in a program at a college or university approved by the IAEE Board of Directors. Student members shall not be entitled to vote, hold office or be a Director in the association.

Retired Membership

A Retired Membership is an individual who has been a member of IAEE, or a designated representative of a Voting Member of IAEE, for ten (10) or more years, and who is retired and no longer employed in the exhibitions and events industry. For the purpose of this definition, “employed” shall mean substantial remuneration for any labor. Retired members shall not be entitled to vote, hold office or be a Director in the association.
