Rocky Mountain Chapter: Stop Beating Yourself Up – Leading with Compassion

September 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for a transformative session about what success really looks like for events professionals. Attendees receive .75 CE Credits.

In the exhibition and events industry, high expectations, constant change, and tight timelines can lead professionals to rely on self-criticism to stay accountable and perform at a high level. However, this approach often results in increased stress, reactive decision-making, and diminished effectiveness over time.

This session reframes self-compassion as a practical, performance-enhancing skill for event professionals. Participants will explore how internal dialogue impacts focus, communication, and execution — and learn actionable strategies to manage pressure, respond constructively to challenges, and maintain clarity in high-stakes environments.

Through real-world examples and practical tools, attendees will leave with techniques they can immediately apply to improve decision-making, strengthen team dynamics, and sustain high performance without burnout.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify how self-criticism impacts decision-making, communication, and performance.
    2. Apply self-compassion techniques to manage stress and maintain clarity during complex event planning and execution.
    3. Develop strategies to respond constructively to challenges and lead with composure, improving team collaboration and event outcomes.
