With all that, life can get pretty overwhelming. The problem is, “change ain’t going away”. The only constant IS change, especially in today’s fast-paced environment. Having the tools to deal with change and adapt to the challenges that transitions bring will improve your effectiveness and resilience.

Come Alive: The Power of Purpose and Reinvention

Presenter: Yvette R. Simpson, Esq., MBA

You’ve heard the expression, “You Only Live Once” or “YOLO.” The truth is that you only die once. You live every day. The pandemic has caused us to carefully evaluate our time, and deeply consider how we spend our days. But here’s the good news: each day presents a new opportunity to pursue purpose, reinvent yourself, make an impact, and find fulfillment in every area of your life.

Come along as Yvette Simpson, Esq./MBA the “Queen of Reinvention,” shares real-life examples from her own 20+ year reinvention adventure and lessons from the executives and leaders she advises. She will take you on a journey of rediscovery, helping you recognize and remove roadblocks along the way, guiding you along the path of reinvention so that you can begin to live life fearlessly on purpose. If you are ready “come alive” at work, at home, and in your community…get in, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!

Learner Outcomes:

  • Discover what it means to “come alive” and why it is essential to you and the world.;
  • Explore the three critical stages in the journey of rediscovery;
  • Learn the keys “the two L’s” to living life on purpose;
  • Leave with an action plan (the ABCs) of reinvention.

Navigating Behaviors & Emotions in Uncertain Times: Tips and Tools for Improving Interactions and Emotional Wellbeing

Presenter: Claudia St. John, SPRH, SHRM-SCP

Through uncertainty we have all faced frustration, stress, and worry. Study after study show that employees in an “emotional state” don’t perform well, are less able to use their higher cognitive function and suffer the long-lasting physical effects of stress. We also know that behavioral preferences affect our emotions and interactions, with some being more expressive, and others internalizing their emotions. These emotional behavioral responses have the potential to impact business and personal relationships and wellbeing.

Join Claudia St. John, SPHR, SHRM-SCP as she explores the intersection of emotional science (EQ) and behavioral science (DISC) and how to reassess and improve your own emotional response, communication and interpersonal interactions. This in-depth session will include the use of DISC Behavioral Style Assessments to help you assess your own DISC behaviors through the lens of Change, Emotions and Conflict and improve your personal EQ.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Assess your personal DISC behavioral style and explore your “typical response” to change, conflict and emotional situations;
  • Learn to recognize the “typical” responses of other behavioral styles;
  • Collect tools to improve emotional responses within each behavioral style in order to navigate challenging situations in work, at home and in the community in which you live;
  • Identify authentic ways to reduce stress, communicate effectively and improve emotional wellbeing in uncertain times and situations.
